“Excellent firms don’t believe in excellence – only in constant improvement and constant change.” – Tom Peters

The quality of data plays a role in every project. Rarely is the quality of data good in one go. However, it is not a smart move to clean up all the data before you start the implementation. We believe that insufficient data quality is the reason to start with any data project. According to our experience, this works a lot more efficiently.

When developing a business intelligence dashboard, you immediately identify which data is not in order. In many cases this can be cleaned up immediately. Without starting the project and implementing tooling such as Microsoft’s Power BI, these errors would have been discovered less quickly. Our experience shows that Power BI shows the correct figures in 99% of the projects, when this is compared with old reports.

When starting data project, quality of data is a critical success factor. But that quality is a road to travel, and should not be an inhibitor to start the journey.
